In one sentence: This is a boring theme core update, there’s almost nothing new from customer’s perspective.
What’s new?
- WordPress 6.9 compatible
- New Google fonts in the list, eg. Geist
- Lighter + faster Customizer with many heavy non-essential components removed: image radio, conditional, tabs..
- New social urls option: Now you can have 2 URLs of same icon (e.g. 2 facebook URLs) and you can reorder them
- New quick translate option: All in a textarea so you can ask ChatGPT to translate in 10s.
- Fix: various minor bugs in Customizer before.
What I did?
The Fox v6.9.7 is released on December 03, 2025. It’s a bit disappointed in compared to what we planned to bring to table in this version. According to the roadmap, I expected we can have a new demo, at least one paid-content demo or another WooCommerce demo, or at least a template directory. But all we did was the theme core improvements.
From customers perspective, you will see almost nothing new in the theme but in fact we made a lot of changes in the theme core to make it more stable and It’s a preparation for upcoming updates.
Here’s what I did:
- Remove unnecessary code blocks.
- Rewrite Javascript of Customizer/Builder
- Rewrite Customizer API to make it 100% WordPress native.
What to expect in Fox v6.9.8?
The Fox v6.9.8 is planned to release around December 10, 2025
